The 8th Annual “Restore the Joy” Domestic Violence Empowerment Luncheon, hosted by Women Who Care Ministries, the Victims’ Rights Foundation, the City of Gaithersburg, and The People’s Community Baptist Church, will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Holiday Inn – Gaithersburg, located at 2 Montgomery Village Avenue.
“Restore the Joy” features a resource fair, a panel of experts, inspirational performances, and vendors. Early bird admission is $25 per ticket and $250 per table of 10 until September 1, 2014. After September 1, admission will be $35 per ticket and $350 per table of 10. Cost is $15 for children and senior citizens. Early registration is recommended as seating is limited and the event is expected to sell out.
The luncheon, which offers messages of encouragement along with vital resource information, will feature “Revive, Renew, Restore,” a keynote address by Yvette Cade. Her inspirational message of hope is based on her own experience of being set on fire by her husband in 2005. Now with twin grandchildren, Cade primarily focuses her message on women’s groups and children bearing witness to domestic violence. In addition, she reaches out to young men at risk and implores them to end their violent behavior, thus teaching the importance of healthy relationships.
